Moulzie Burn

2014_0623athyriumR0003

Cultivar name: ‘Moulzie Burn’
Species: Athyrium filix-femina
Synonyms:
Description: A new ‘Gemmatum’ with green stems and of tall stature height so far 90cm (3ft).Gemmatums have tight ball like crests on the tip of the fronds and pinnae. At present I am aware of three forms; this one, ‘Barnes’ which is smaller and also has green stems, and ‘Bolton’ which is a large-growing red stemmed form.
Cultivation notes: Generally as for species. Will grow in most soils but prefers acid conditions; as someone says in good “woodland duff”. Also best in light shade but will tolerate some sun in the morning and evening, or more if in damp conditions.
