Hi all new member and looking for advice on buying 1st book or if you could only have one? Just bought 12 plants for dry shady garden to get started. Looking for general advice on planting, maintenance and any good websites?

Chester area just inside North Wales, any local groups?

    Many thanks, Jeff

Depends a bit on what you want to do
Do you want to be able to identify native ferns in the field?
If so you could check out: The Fern Guide: A Field Guide to the Ferns, Clubmosses, Quillworts and Horsetails of the British Isles
For general information, you can look at the books by Sue Olsen, Martin Rickard or Barbara Joe Hoshizaki & Robbin Moran. They are all excellent

Oh, I forgot, you can inquire at Booksales@ebps.org.uk if they have any of these books second hand or for my general advice
