I inherited this fern when I moved house.
It is similar to the Polystichum setiferum that you helped me identify last year. However, it is smaller (~50cm spread) and doesnt have an straight arching upright habit, rather it is flatter to the ground (about 15cm high) and slightly crooked or tangled. can you help ?
thanks

Irish Fern

You helped me identify an Irish fern I was given as a Polystichum setiferum. This is another fern I have been given growing wild in the same Irish garden, but a different type. It is larger and hardier. The pinnae are less delicate. It has grown very upright this year from just a root crown to ~90cm.
grateful if you can help identify it for me.
