EA&SE: Royal Botanic Gardens Kew
June 8 @ 10:30 am - 5:00 pm
Our host is Alice Taylor who is in charge of the ferns amongst other jobs and has started growing many ferns from spores and will know doubt show us her techniques and share other growing tips with us.
We need to be all together at the Victoria Gate; the one straight down the road from Kew Gardens Station on the District Line. If you arrive early, the Kew Greenhouse is a good place to start with coffee and cake. It is at the end of the parade of shops straight down the road towards Kew Gardens. The entrance is about 7 minutes from there.
The SE Region IS COVERING THE COST OF ENTRY BUT IF YOU ARE A Kew Gardens member please bring your card so don’t be in too much hurry to spend your precious cash if you arrive early.
The day will probably involve a trip to the Lower Nursery, a tour of the Princess of Wales Conservatory, a tour of the hardy ferns in the Rhododendron Dell as well as visits to the Palm House and the newly restored house depending how much time we spend early in the day.
We shall break for lunch around 1pm when either you can have sandwiches, a snack at the White Pavillions or something in the Orangery. We will meet outside the Orangery to continue the day.
It is essential that you let me know if you are coming to help with arrangements and also so that we do not wait around for you
If you have to cancel or are delayed then can you give Julian a ring on 07770 531038.
I know many of you are looking forward to this day as I am
