IT: Indoor and Tropical Fern Group Meet

April 29 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

The Churchtown Botanical Garden Fernery in Southport, Lancashire, has undergone major restoration and re-planting work over the last few years. This has been undertaken by a collaboration between the Botanic Gardens Community Association, the British Pteridological Society and the Royal Botanical Garden Edinburgh. It is one of the best-stocked indoor ferneries in the UK and is well worth a visit.

This year, the BPS Annual General Meeting is to be at Edge Hill University, Ormskirk, on Saturday 30 April. Therefore, we thought that this was a good opportunity for members of the IATFG to visit the fernery in nearby Southport on the day before the AGM. I have confirmed that the Fernery will be open on the morning of Friday 29 April and we suggest that we meet at the Fernery at 11.00 AM that morning. Entrance is free but the fernery relies on donations made in a box at the door.

Parking is available nearby and the postcode is PR9 7NE. The local organisers have asked that we give them an indication of the number of members to expect. So please let Matthew Reeve (matthew@reeve.name) know if you are going to join us there.
