N: Autumn Indoor Meeting 2018

November 17, 2018

Theme – Dryopteris

There will be a full day of illustrated talks, including Angela Tandy of Fibrex Nurseries on cultivating Dryopteris species and varieties, Mary Gibby on the British allotetraploid species and their hybrids, Fred Rumsey on Dryopteris submontana and Dryopteris cristata, David Hill with some excellent photos featuring Dryopteris. There’s a whole lot more to Dryopteris in the UK than the D.affinis complex but I hope to sneak in a brief word from Roger Golding on D. kerryensis in England.
As if all this isn’t enough, there will be a display of material from the Liverpool Herbarium and of material from the Society’s archive, plus an opportunity to see the archives.
There will be a meal together on the Saturday evening, and visits to Ness Botanic Garden, a local member’s wonderful urban garden, or Southport Fernery for the Sunday, for those of us who will be travelling a long distance. Please see the programme below.
To register your interest please email Nick Hards.
