N: Eskdale, Cumbria
July 8 @ 10:00 am - July 10 @ 5:00 pm
The plan is to meet lunchtime on Friday 8th for an afternoon visit, for those who wish, otherwise arrive Friday evening. A full day on Saturday 9th. Then Sunday morning to early afternoon visit, and finish.
Not yet finalised but they will be in the general Eskdale area. Sites are likely to include Stanley Ghyll, Milkingstead Wood, Keyhow Coppice, Irton & Parkgate Woods. Drigg Dunes could be a possibility.
We would expect to see a good variety of Lake District ferns including Hymenophyllums, Dryopteris aemula and possibly D. pseudodisjuncta.
The Lakeland scenery in Eskdale is fantastic and let’s hope that the weather is also kind to us.
Members will need to make their own accommodation arrangements. There is a good range of hotels, guest houses, holiday lets and camping to be found on internet sites such as ‘Eskdale Lake District Accommodation’ or ‘Eskdale Lake District Camping’. No doubt much of it will get booked up as the season progresses, so don’t leave it too late.
Let me know if you are definitely coming so that we can organise an evening meal at one of the Eskdale pubs nearer the day.
