SE: Autumn end of season meeting
October 21, 2017 @ 10:30 am - 5:00 pm
We look forward to seeing you at the last SE Meeting of the year. Perhaps the last chance to see ferns in the wild, and then an opportunity to review the year’s ferning.
Meet 10.30 a.m. in Wittersham (Grid Reference TQ 897276) on the Isle of Oxney. Park on the B2082 (Rye/Tenterden road) just past the pub.
We will walk into Church Wood, a very interesting wood and one of the few sites in Kent for Dryopteris aemula. Wellington Boots are strongly recommended.
c. 1230, a sandwich + lunch will be provided at my place, 2 Station Villas, Station Road, Appledore, TN26 2DF, near Appledore station (TQ 974298) where there will be an opportunity to see my modest collection of ferns. Parking should be available at the station which is about 200yds up the road.
c. 1400 we will go the short distance into Appledore village. Just past the main village on the right is the recreation ground (TQ 956297). It has a small room where we will be treated to some short presentations by Pat Acock, Roger Golding, Julian Reed and myself, covering ferns trips they have made during the summer. Please feel free to bring any other items of ferny interest.
