WS: John Massey’s garden at Ashwood Nurseries

August 2, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

Tour of John Massey’s garden at Ashwood Nurseries followed by indoor meeting.
Leaders: John Massey (Garden), Brian and Sue Dockerill (Indoor Meeting)

John Massey has recently become ever more interested in ferns and, as with everything in his garden, these are grown to a very high standard. His fern meeting held last year, with speakers Martin Rickard and Angela Tandy was regarded as a really great event by everyone lucky enough to attend. He has agreed to give our group a personal tour of the garden plus the use of facilities on the nursery site for an indoor meeting.

Most people will know of Ashwood’s but directions can be found on their website. The garden tour will start at 11.00 giving an opportunity for early arrivals to have a cup of tea in the restaurant or a look around the nursery itself. This will be followed by lunch – we can again use the nursery restaurant or bring food to eat in our cars.

After lunch we will meet indoors for an open forum. This can be anything members would like to make it. Please bring along plants or anything else to prompt discussion and consider if you could give a short talk on any fern-related topic. We can also have a round table question and answers session and it will provide an opportunity to plan future meetings.

Final confirmation will be sent out a few weeks before the date but, as we need to give John an indication of numbers, please let us know if you are able to attend.
