I purchased this fern recently as I liked its form. It is I believe mislabelled . The label states that it is Dryopteris Cristata Angustata but it seems to be more akin to a Dryopteris Affinis cultivar. What do you think?

Definitely not Cristata Angustata as you are aware
It appears to be Dryopteris x complexa Stableri at first glance
There is a form Stableri crisped syn Crispa Angustata this may be were the error came . take care Julian
NB: Dryopteris x complexa is the hybrid between D. affinis and D. filix-mas
Interestingly, I found a plant labelled exactly the same as yours in the ‘Urban Jungle’ nursery near Norwich this morning, and it is definitely a crisped version of Dryopteris x complexa ‘Stableri’. I suspect that they are all supplied from Holland.
My plant was purchased here in the South Hams. The pot label states that the fern was grown in Devon and it has a GB passport. I asked where they sourced their stock but unfortunately the buyer wasn’t in that day. I will ask again when I’m next there.

I agree with Crisped Stableri. I have it in the garden.
Thank you Peter and Julian – it is nice to know that my suspicion was well founded.
